Jaka Arh was born in 1997 in Slovenia. After graduating from Conservatory for Music in Ljubljana, he enrolled in the undergraduate studies of Jazz Saxophone at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria in the class of prof. Julian Argüelles. In 2020 he graduated with honours and moved to Basel, Switzerland, where he is currently studying his postgraduate studies of Jazz Saxophone at the Jazzcampus in the class of prof. Domenic Landolf. In September 2022 he will continue his education at the Electronic Studio Basel, where he will be obtaining his second postgraduate degree in Audio Design in the class of prof. Volker Böhm and prof. Svetlana Maraš.
He is a recipient of three gold plaquettes from the jazz music competition TEMSIG in Slovenia and prestigious scholarship for young talented artists from Slovenian Ministry of Culture.
In his short career he had the opportunity to perform and record with different highly acclaimed musicians, especially in Slovenia, Croatia and Austria (Uli Rennert, Heinrich von Kalnein, Matija Dedić etc.). He is a part of many various projects, both as saxophone player and as sound artist / electronic musician. In 2021 he released his first solo EP Heart Replies, where he is mainly presented as an electronic producer. In his music he is combining his background in jazz with (experimental) electronics, what can be especially heard in his project, <TDNO>, which is a duo with a Slovenian singer Ana Čop.
In 2018, he co-founded an electronic jazz quintet Trokut. Trokut released its critically acclaimed album Shapeless internationally for Rika Muzika (UK) label in 2020. The album was nominated for the prestigious Croatian music award Porin in the category Best New Album of Electronic Music. The band released their new EP Rotate, Align in February 2022.
